May is Bike Month (MIBM)

May is Bike Month is the Sacramento region’s signature event designed to engage and introduce people to the benefits of bicycling for daily use. The event provides opportunities to embrace bike riding as sustainable commuting options and to improve health, wellness, and reduce traffic congestion. A positive experience during MIBM inspires new bike riders to continue the habit year-round. We have a month-long program to spread bicycling love and awareness by organizing bike festivals, classes and social rides to parks, gardens, and other destinations. MIBM highlights bicycling as a practical, traffic-free alternative to driving, and a fun way to get around, especially since it can easily replace 5-mile car trips.

Marketing Opportunity

SABA offers sponsors an excellent opportunity to showcase your logo to the larger community on canvas bags, banners on social media and in our newsletter. Sponsors are also acknowledged on our website, in emails, press releases, and via social media channels.

Community Bike Shop (CBS)

In partnership with Community Shop Class, SABA is launching a hybrid bike shop on Stockton Blvd. We will provide point of sale goods such as locks, lights and helmets for cyclists and do basic repairs on bicycles. We anticipate selling e-bike conversion kits to -e assist analog bikes. All of this will happen with young adults that we teach to run the shop and conduct repairs. Opening Spring 2025.

Marketing Opportunity

SABA is offering sponsors to get in on the ground floor of this innovative bike shop. Your name and company will be on the new CBS website, at events hosted by CBS and depending on sponsorship, you could be added to the “wall of names” who helped launch the CBS.

SABA Programs

Social Rides: We believe in experiences that deepen people’s abilities to enjoy their world by bicycle. Our social rides show people how to navigate new infrastructure, like the new protected bike lanes in town; or enjoy new locations, like riding the new Del Rio trail; or have a built -in workshop in them, like learning about trees on the American River Parkway. They’re always fun and free to the public.

SABA’s Bicycle Ambassador Program: New in 2025, we are launching, Sacramento Area Bicycle Ambassadors, a program to deepen and strengthen our community engagement and outreach. We are working with 30 interested community members from across Sacramento’s neighborhoods coaching them on advocacy skills and collectively learning about how to make our streets safer.

Learn to Ride: We get asked weekly if we teach people how to ride a bike. Adults and kids all want to have 2-wheeled adventures, and our Learn to Ride classes cover the basics and how to navigate our streets in a safe fashion.
